By Telegraph. —Press Assoaiation. Invercargill, Last Night. Frederick Nekal, a Russian settler at Drummond, committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun by means of a string fixed to the trigger. His head was blown almost completely away. The cause was despondency upon receiving a summons charging him with having illused his children. Nelson, Last Night. The son of Mr Thomas Bird, of Hope, named Sydney Thomas Bird, aged six, died on Saturday from acute peritonitis, alleged to have been caused by a kick while playing football at school a few days previously. At the inquest yesterday the jury returned a verdict that death resulted from neritonitis caused by receiving an accidnetal kick while playing football, no blame being attachable to anyone. Marton, Last Night. A serious motor accident occurred to Mr Lynn McKelvie's motor car, with seven occupants, while going home from the Bulls sale yesterday afternoon. The car had reached some distance beyond the Parewanui school, when a horse, jumping over a fence came in collision with it and capsized it, the whole of the occupants of the car being more or less severely injured. Dr Watson was telephoned for, and Dr Martin, from Palrmrston North, arrived shortly after. An ambulance was also sent for, and two were taken to the Palmerston Hospital, other sufferers being attended to on the spot. Among the occupants, besides Mr McKelvie, were Messrs Amon (2), J. Sim, Mr Atkinson, and two others. Mr Sam Amon had his thigh broken, and Mr Bert Amon his ankle broken. The others escaped more lightly. The car was badly injured and the horse killed.
