PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting nf this Board was held in the Farmers’ Clubroom, Cambridge, on Saturday, at 3p m. There were present ; Messrs R. Fisher (in the chair), R. Reynolds, W. Voaper, and J. Gane.
Closed Roads.— A copy of the Gazette containing the order iu Council closing certain roads through the Moauuvale Estate was received. Thu Chairman said there wore the roads that had been purchasen by Messrs Ambury and English for £6O. and they had also received a cheque from him for the balance, £4B. ‘ihe Chairman was authorised to sign the transfer when completed. Gravel. —Mr A. F. Stone wrote asking permission to take a few loads of gravel from the pic on the Puahue Road. —Granted, subject to certain restrictions.
Valuation Roll.— Several applications were received to have names on the Valuation Roll altered, and the following were agreed to A. J. Francis to J. M. Clifford, H. J. Clifford to Wenzo Scholium, Williamson Bros, to Dan. Turnwald, John Bridgman to Souter and Co., and George Brown to Simpson. I’ukekura Road. —Mr R. Reynolds reported that the portion of this road that had 1), eu ploughed np had proved an absolute success. Only about ten chains had been done, but in ploughing they hurl used up io less than seven pougli-shares. The cost had been 3s 6d per chain, and all that was wauled now was to trim the sides so as to let the watir off. Accounts. The following accounts were passed for payment : —\V. Harris, £1 12s ; Souter and Co., £1 9s 3d.
A Deviation —MrJ. Biiilgetnan wrote that-a portion of the road tt the Crow’s Nest tan through hia property. He wanted to fence, and asked the Board to arrange the m itter.—The Chairman said Mr Bridgman did not wish to alter the direction of the road, bur wanted an exchange legally marie.—Messrs Vesper and Reynolds were deputed to attend to ■hr matter.
Roto-o-ranoi Estate— Mr W. C. Park, inati iger of this estate, wrote asking assist..no- to form some 152 chains of the Pnahue road. The road is necessary to settlers now taking up laud on thestate. Ho estimated the cost ul £l5O to £2OO. He pointed out that the estate hid been paying rates for a number cf years without having a passable road within its. boa idruics.—The Chairman said ho had been over the ground with Mr Grice, and they certified the cost at £250. He added that tho estate was being rapidly taken up, and the work would have to he done before long.—lt was arranged to meet Mr Park o i the 28th inst. and go over the proposed site of road. DOMAIN BOARD. The Board then sat as a Domain Board, but the only business transacted was the passing of an account of £1 to Mr W. Harris.- It was arranged that at tire next meeting of the Board they should fix the conditions upou which the land s which fall in next August, shall be re leased.
