Colonel Wilcocks' force of 1200, with five guns, after fighting for an hour and a-half, inflicted heavy loss on a body of 4000 Ashantis. Sikhs made a gallant charge. Major Hellish, of the Wiltshire Rogitnent, was amongst the wounded.
