HAMILTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
PRESENTATION TO MR GEORGE mm, EDGECUMBE. On Saturday evening a surprise visit to Mr George Edgecumbe, at " Tho Sycamores," Frankton, for the purpose of making him a presentation. The party was headed by Mr R. Pike, cantiiin or the Club, and after being hearUly welcomed by Mr Edgecumbe and his family, Mr Pike presented to Mr Edgecuinbe a handsomelv framed enlargement of the Hamilton" Football Team, 1900, winners of the "Waikato Rugby Union Champienship." In making the presentation, Mr Pike said the members were desirous of showing their appreciation of the many services he had rendered as President of the Club and in the interests of all sport aud athletics throughout the district, aud he hoped Mr Edgecumbe would have the same pleasure in aocepting the picture as the members had iu giving it. Mr Edgecumbe, to whom the visit was a complete, surprise, thanked Mr Pike and the members for the handsome present, which he was very proud to accept, as showing the good-feeling existing between himself and the players. He was always pleased to preside over their meetings and could say that, however, the accepted rulings in the fieldami he had heard they were sometimes disputed, his ruling had always been abided by. He then introduced to the members of the club Dr. Keuny. the President of the Rotorua Football Club, who congratulated the members on having a President so capable of filling the position, find Mr Edgecumbe ou haviug so thoroughly earned the good will of the players. At the invitation of Mr Edgecumbe, refreshments were partaken of, and Mr C. Speight, as the veteran member of the team, proposed Mr Edgecumbe's health, which was drunk in bumpers with musical honours and one extra loud cheer for Mrs Edgecumbe. After spending a short time in recounting reminiscences, the party left after giving three ringing cheers at the gate. The picture, which was taken by Messrs Gaze and Fabling, is an excellent specimeu of the photographers art, every figure being a splendid portrait, and the framing was done by Mr A. Coyle, the whole forming a handsome ornament, and one which we are sure will be highly prized by Mr Edgecumbe.
