House Committee's Report.—The report of the House Committee upon the Refuge was read. The only complaint the inmates had to make was that two of the old men were m.ost uu'cleanly in their habits.—The committee recommended that an isolated building should be erected for the accommodation of the inmates referred to. They alto nude a suegestion that tin: .lurvices of an old couple should be obtained to look after the inmates of the Refuge—the man to do the overseering and the woman to do the washing aud cooking. The only objection to the proposal, however, was that a house would require to be erected for them.—The members were all in favour of the employment of a married couple, but the expense of building a cottage was the stumbling block.—On the motion of Mr Fisher, the report was adopted, and the committee was authorised to obtain estimates of the cost of building a small place for the accommodation of the two men referred to.

Doctor's Report.—ln his report the surgeon superintendent stated that the number of patients in the hospital at last return was 16 males and 4 females ; admitted since, 19 males and 7 females ; died, 2 females ; discharged, 21 males and 11 females ; remainiug at date, 14 males and 3 females.—The report was adopted. In reply to a question from Mr Vickers, Dr. Douglas said the average number of patients treated was 20, representing fees totalling over £I4OO a year. The fact was then elicited that only the sum of £3OO had been paid during the past year. —The Chairman, in reply to a question, said the Board's solicitor had been employed to collect outstaoding accounts.— In that case, remarked Mr Hewett, it would be almost as well to make the Hospital free, as but a very small rate would bo ueccHßary for the local bodieH to make up the amount.— The only objection to this suggestion, offered by the other members, was that such a course would be likely to result in a large influx of patients.—After some further discussion Mr A. Primrose gave notice of his intention to introduce the matter for consideration at next meeting. Friendly Societies,—The question of the treatment of members of friendly societies at half coat was again deferred for a mouth owing to the absence of Mr W. F. Bucklaud.
