LIQUOR IN WE KING COUNTRY.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION). Napier, This Day. The Waiapu Dioceseau Synod carried the following resolutions :—(1) Protesting against the proposal to authorise the introduction of intoxicants into the Kinj; Country in direct violation of the pledge given by the Government to the natives ; (2) protesting agaiust the use of the Government railways for the conveyance of intoxicating liquors into the King Country for illegal sale, thus employing a Government institution for the violation of the laws of the colony ; (3) in the opinion of this Synod the sly-grog selling can bo checked and its evils reduced to c minimum by a firm, conscientious and strict administration of the existing laws.
