The Military Governor of Johannesburg is ready to receive refugees who desire to return to the city at the rate of 3000 to 4000 weekly, beginning on October 10th. • Commandant Erasmus used the recent armistice in removing 50,000 cattle from the Pietersburg Plateau. * THE USE OP NEW PUSES. BOERS INTIMIDATING FARMERS. LINES OP COMMUNICATION ATTACKED, i PROCLAMATION BY LORD ROBERTS. (Received October 3, 10 25 p.m.) The new fuses employed in South Africa enabled the field guns to burst shrapnel at the range of 5400 yards. The Boers are intimidating farmers, shooting natives, and attacking the pickets on the line of communication in the Lindley district. , Lord Roberts has issued a proclamation that Boers found wearing British uniforms are liable to be shot.
