HAMILTON LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
A mreting of the Hamilton Library Committee was held at the Council Chambers last evening. Present: Messrs Ceo. Kdgecumbe, P. E. Stevens and R. J. Gwynne. It was resolved that subscribers outside the Borough limits be allowed to take out two books—one new and one old—for their ordinary subscription, antl that visitors be admitted as subscribers for one month on payment of 2s 6d and a deposit ot ss. Mr Stevens reported that the net proceeds from the ball in aid of the funds gave £25 Is Gd, which had been lodged in the Post-office Savings Bank. Of this amount £9 18s had been expended on the purchase of 58 volumes. Mr Edgecumbe moved that a vote of thanks be accorded to the Ball Committee for their services and that their action be approved. Seconded by Mr Gwynne aud carried. The librarian was authorised to procure six sets of files for papers for the reading-room. A vote of thanks was passed to the Hamilton Comedy Company for their donation towards the funds, being half of the proceeds of the first night of "Ihe Magistrate,"
