After the formal ceremony the councillors entertained the late proprietors at luucheou. Replying to the toast of the late proprietors, Dr. Grace said that at one time the company offered to sell the tramways for about £15,000, which represented the then liability for them, hut since the concern had been leased to Mr Hall it had paid well, and now the City Council stepped in and obtained a property which would be worth £BOOO a year.
