The enforcement of measures for the suppression of the plague at Kolapore, a native State in India, led to an attempt to poison the British Resident. President McKinley is alarmed at the existence of a widespread anti-Imperial feeling in America.
Mr John Sherman, ex-Secretary for State, has created a sensation in New York by eulogising the Filipinos for their capacity for self-government.
