CARTERTON SAVAGES.
KORERO ON SATURDAY NIGHT. <t/L K ' OT A rO l .. Was held the Carterton 8 S lU w Saturda y night, when Savage E. H. Fisher was installed with due ceremony as the Presiding Chief by Big Chief H. B. Keenan. Glees, solos and quartettes provided the vocal numbers, and Kaiwhakahaere P. Darke gave an excellent pianoforte item Ex-Savage J. F. Thompson was the lecturer for the evening, and he took the island of Penryn (Tongarewa), as his subject. He delightfully described the life on the island, and the manners and customs of the natives. Past Chief Stent and Savages S. Rooney and H. Bruce contributed a very clever sketch. At the Butteryhatch adjournment the toast of the lecturer was proposed by Savage Taverner, and the toast of the visitors by Savage E. Fisher. Savage Doige, of Wellington, replied to the latter toast.
