ST. MATTHEW’S GUILD.
GATHERING IN PARISH HALL. The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, addressed a large gathering of ladies in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. The meeting was arranged by the St. Matthew’s Ladies 3 Guild, The Bishop spoke on ,the moral issues confronting the community. On behalf of the guild, his Lordship made a presentation to Mrs Pinkerton, one of the oldest members of the guild on the occasion of her 88th. birthday. Mrs Pinkerton was also presented with a bouquet and a similar compliment was paid to Mrs Richards, another* member of long standing. Items, which were much appreciated, were given Iby the following: Mes- • dames Coleman and Hope, vocal duet; Miss Edith Ralph, vocal solo and Miss Betty Coleman, elocution. Afternoon tea was served by the guild.
