ARMISTICE PROPOSED.
FOLLOWING MEDIATION BY ARAB KING. SLIGHT DELAY IN ISSUING PROCLAMATION. BRITAIN’S “GOOD INTENTIONS’’ SOUGHT. (Received Wednesday, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, October 7. The “News-Guardian’a” Jerusalem correspondent says it ia reliably reported that the Higher Arab Committee’s armistice proclamation, arising from the Arab King’s mediation will be issued within twenty-four hours. The King approved the text yesterday but Yassin El Hashimy, Irak’s Premier, suggested a modification, hence a slight deity. It is understood that the proclamation appeals for an armistice only, after which the Arabs will await some indication of Britain’s “good intentions’’ for a final settlement.
