OUTRAGE IN BALLARAT.
BUTCHER’S SHOP ALMOST WRECKED. BY GELIGNITE OR BOMB. TWO WOMEN SUFFER GREAT SHOCK. (Received Friday, 8.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 31. A butcher’s shop conducted by Harold Lugg, in East Ballarat, was almost wrecked overnight by an explosion of gelignite or a bomrb, but nnbody was injured. A refrigerating 01ant valued at £250 was destroyed. Two women residing next door received a great shock. They told the police they heard a dog barking angrily for some time. Detectives discovered fifteen feet of burnt fuse running from the back yard into the refrigerating room at the rear of the shop. Lugg, who lives two miles away, expressed the opinion that the outrage had been committed by someone with a grudge against him.
