THE KING’S CRUISE.

YACHT NAHLIN GETTING READY FOR SEA. LARGE & POWERFUL SHIP. NO COUNCIL OF STATE BEING APPOINTED. (Received Friday, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. The King is already familiar with the Nahlin, on which last year he made a short cruise while visiting the Channel Islands. His Majesty was then impressed by the yacht’s comfort, although it is not equipped with a swimming bath, which has been overcome by the erection of a canvas bath on the deck. The Nahlin is now very busy filling up with stores and fuel. She has a capacity for 400 tons of oil, sufficient for a range of 5,000 miles. Captain Doyle, the master, visited the King at St. James’s Palace and discussed final arrangements. The King is not appointing a Council of State and accordingly documents requiring the Royal signature will be sent to the Nahlin by King’s messengers, but such documents are fewer when Parliament is not sitting. Destroyers will be in radio communication with the Admiralty and the Nahlin’s wireless will also maintain touch with London. The crew totals fifty-one. All are Scots except the captain.
