WEDDING.

BIRD—FOSTER. The marriage took place at the Methodist Church, Carterton, on Saturday afternoon, of Eileen, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Foster, Carterton, and Trevor, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Bird, also of CartertonThe ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Whyte and Mr. Haste presided at the organ. The bride, who wan escorted by her father, was daintily attired in a frock of ivory satin and silk lace, cut on classical lines, with a lace bodice and tight-fitting sleeves pointed to the wrist. Her tulle veil was held in place by a circlet of orange blossoms and fell in graceful folds to form a second train. She carried a shower bouquet of freesias, pale pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses Winnie Bird (chief) and Phyllis Wilton, sister and cousin of the bridegroom respectively. Both were dressed alike in pink georgette, with pink halos trimmed with tiny pink and lemon flowers and mittens of pink silk lace. They also wore silver shoes and both carried bouquets to tone with their frocks. The best man was Mr. Elfred Bird, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr. Frank Ralph, cousin of the bridegroom, was groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by Miss Verena Stains, Masterton.

Later a reception was held at the Premier tea rooms. Mrs. Foster, the bride’s mother, received the guests, wearing a navy ensemble and navy hat. She was assisted by Mrs. Bird, the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a nigger brown costume and brown hat. Both carried posies made with spring flowers. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Bird left by car for the north, the bride wearing a brown ensemble with accessories to tone. Their future home will be in the Pahiatua district.

Last week the young couple were tendered a gift evening when many useful presents were received.
