DANZIG AS BASE.
NAZIS PLAN MILITARISATION. ORGANISATION OF ARMY. (Received This Day, 1.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. The “News-Chronicle’s” Warsaw correspondent telegraphs that the Polish press states that the Nazis .intend to militarise Danzig and turn it into a big base. Infantry regiments, batteries, artillery and several squadrons of bombers will form the nucleus of the Danzig army. Storm troopers are being transformed into a regular standing army, officered by the German Reichswehr under the command of the East Prussian divisional headquarters. Herr Greiser statqs that the army is being created against the day when Herr Hitler will announce the freedom pf. Danzig to .the world as he announced the freedom of the Rhineland. Training., is at-present being carried out spcretly, neither the officers, nor the men wearing: uniforms.
