RUN OVER BY TRAIN.

SHOCKING FATALITY NEAR PORT CHALMERS. DUNEDIN, July 28. A shocking railway fatality occurred this afternoon, the victim being Robert A. Ward, manager of the Union Company’• marine repair works -at Port Chalmers. It is not known how the accident occurred but just after the 1.15 p.m. train from Port Chalmers had passed through the short tunnel between Sawysr’s Bay and St. Leonard's the driver and fireman felt a bump. The train was pulled up immediately and Ward’s body, which was terribly mutilated, was discovered. He had been in- the employ of the Union Company for many years and was at one time one of the company’s chief engineers at sea.—(P.A.)
