REP. RUGBY.
WANGANUI BEAT WAIKATO. WANGANUI, July 21. Wanganui defeated Waikato at Rugby to-day by 17 points to 9. The winners made a wonderful recovery in the second spell, after being behind by 9 points to nil. Waikato fielded a solid pack of forwards, who packed well in the tight. Wanganui was outhooked and beaten in the lineouts but mastery in the loose gave them a well-deserved victory. In the second spell weaknesses showed in the Waikato five-eighths line and these enabled Wanganui's loose play to be driven home. Buick, Solomon and Dempsey scored a try each for Waikato, none of which were converted. For Wanganui Burgess scored two tries and Lockett one. Welsh converted two and Barton a kicked penalty.—(P.A.l
