HARRIER ACTIVITIES.

KIATERE CLUB TEAMS’ RACE. On Saturday the Ki at ere Harrier dub held a teams’ race between teams picked by the captain and vice-cap-tain. The race was run over a one lap course of about six miles, the winning team being the captain’s, which won by a small margin of five points. The first three tnen to finish were W. McDonald, A. Burns and M. Quayle. Many of the runners are showing greatly improved form. This is very gratifying in view of the forthcoming race for the Bradbury cup. Next Saturday a friendly training run will be held at Solway, starting at 2.30 p.m. MASTERTON CLUB. FIVE MILE HANDICAP EVENT. On Saturday afternoon the Masterton Harrier Club held a five mile flat open handicap race. The course, mostly over dry country, was a two lap one. H. Adcock, a limit man, made good use of his handicap, still being well in the lead at the commencement of the second lap. The positions here were largely unchanged, although J. Mulvey was moving up fast, running in tenth place, closely followed by E. Buckton and A. Kennedy. Nearing the Lansdowne School on the second lap, R. Warham left his brother, and ran through to pass Adcock with J. Mulvey closely following. The results Were: —J. Mulvey 35.52, 1; R. Warham 35.55, 2; H. Adcock 36.11, 3; J. Warham 36.25, 4; EL Wyeth 36.34, 5; J. Baikie 36.55, 6; J. Lochore 37.4, 7; H. Evans 37.16, 8; I. Shaw 37.18, 9; R. Shaw 37.21, 10; C. Talbot 37.43, 11; R. Hatch 37.44, 12. The fastest times were: C. Talbot 30.43, 1; J. Mulvey 31.52, 2.

The junior club ran a scratch race of 21 miles, the results being: J. MillWard 1, R. Schandrit 2, D. Schandrit 3. There was a great show of speed when the first two boys approached the tape, and only a few feet separated them. Next Saturday the Wanganui Harriers will visit Masterton for the deciding Benson Gate race, and members of the Masterton Club are urged to attend the training nights this week. Those who are able to supply billets, are asked to communicate with the secretary immediately.
