JUNIOR RUGBY.
TRIAL MATCH AT CARTERTON YEBTBBDAY. EVEN AND KEENLY-CONTESTED GAME. The North v. South junior trial Rugby match, which was played at Carterton yesterday, so that a team could be selected to play the Hawke’s Bay juniors on the King’s Birthday (next Tuesday) resulted in a win for South by 19 points to 16, after a good, even and keenly-eontested game. At half time the score was 6/5 in favour of South. In the second half North were leading 16/14 just before time, when Beading eame to light to score a try, which Flood converted, making the score South 19, North 16. The scorers were:—South, tries by Beid, Fenwick, Nix and Beading, two being converted by Flood, who also kicked a penalty goal. For North, tries wore scored by Beiri, Meurk, Governor and Barnes, two being converted by Percy and Meurk. It is expected that the representative team will be announced to-day. .
