CORONATION DATE.
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. MAY 12, NEXT YEAR; RUGBY, May 28. . It is announced. in the London Gazette to-night that the Coronation of King Edward VIII will take place in Westminster Abbey on Wednesday, May 12, next year. The date was formally approved by his Majesty at a meeting of the Privy Council this morning at Buckingham Palace, attended by several Cabinet Ministers, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Earl Marshal. To-morrow morning the Coronation will be proclaimed by heralds at St. James’s Palace, Charing Cross, Temple Bar, and the Royal Exchange.
The 8.8. C. announces that the proclamation of the date of the coronation of King Edward VIII. will be broadcast from the Empire station at Daventry on Friday, May 29, from 8.50 a.m. approximately to 9.30 a.m. approximately, G.MZT., on GSH, GSG, and GSF. Subsequent electrical recordings will be broadcast at 2 p.m., 5.15 p.m., and 9.20 p.m., G.M.T., on May 29, and at 1 a.m. and 5.15 a.m. on May 30. —(British Official Wireless.)
