HARRIER NOTES.

KIATERE CLUB ACTIVITIES. (Contributed.) The Kiatere Harrier Club has been strengthened this season by the addition of some promising new members and by the promotion of the juveniles, A. McDonald, J. Laing and P. Gaskin. The novice race to-be run on June 6 should be keenly contested, the favourites being A. McDonald and F. Cole, the Featherston miler. I*. Gray, J. Laing, J. Taplin, M. Sutherland and P. Gaskin are, however, showing such marked improvement each Saturday that on the day of the race any one of them may break the tape. Last Saturday M. Quayle and F. Gray both had the misfortune to meet with injuries which necessitated their retirement from the race.

A Burns, W. McDonald and W. Burgess are coming into form but will not be running at top for some little time. M. Quayle and R. Greeks appear to be running even better than last season. G. Strong has not so far extended himself. W. Burns, O. Gaskin, A. Colway adn J. L. Burns can give a good account of themselves when required. D. Nelson, R. Searancke and L. Fitzgerald are making gqod progress and R. Strickland, a newcomer to the club is improving with every run. J. Ryder and Walter Burns are showing good form.

Evidence of the enthusiasm of members is provided by the exeeltent attendance at training runs and good performances in elub and inter-club competitions are promised. The junior runners are stronger as a team this season than ever before G Sutherland, G. Turnbull B. Falloon, R Jackson, Alister McDonald and A. Wilton a re all about equal at present while R. Wilton, M. Quayle and J. Ireland are running very well and should be prominent in competitions in about three weeks’ time.
