NEW RAIL CAR.

ADMIRED BY VISITORS FROM WAIRARAPA.

ABOUT TO BE TRIED OUT. At the invitation of the General Manager of Railways (Mr. G. H. Mackley) members of -the Wairarapa deputation which interviewed Ministers in Wellington yesterday on the subject Of the Rimutaka railway visited the Railway Workshops at the Hutt and had the pleasure of walking through and inspecting the first completed rail car. This vehicle, which is to be tried out at the week end, has been named Maahunui, after the first Maori canoe which reached New Zealand from Rarotonga. The car was greatly admired by the visitors. It is beautifully built and finished with wide and comfortable seats and excellent lighting and heating. It is probable that the car may visit the Wairarapa on Sunday week June 7. of the deputation were the guests t>f the General Manager at lunch in a cafeteria attached to the Railway Workshops.
