BUDGET INQUIRY.
REPORT OF THE TRIBUNAL COMPLETED. IMMEDIATE CONSIDERATION BY CABINET. MR. LESLIE THOMAS RESIGNS. FROM FIRM. LONDON, May 26. The “Daily Mail” says that Mr. Leslie Thomas, son of the Rt. Hon. J. H. Thomas, who resigned from the Ministry last week, has resigned from partnership in the firm of stockbrokers, Messrs Belisha and Company, mentioned in the Budget leakage inquiry. Mr. Thomas, however, will remain a member of the Stock Exchange. The “Daily Telegraph” says the tribunal which inquired into the leakage has completed its report, which Cabinet will immediately consider. It is unlikely that the report will be published until after the Whitsuntide recess, which begins on June 6. A debate on the report is most likely when the House of Commons resumes. Other sources indicate that the report will be published earlier.
