TO-DAY’S POLL
TRUST LANDS TRUST ELECTION. VOTING QUALIFICATIONS.
A poll will be taken to-day for the election of three members to the Trust Lands Trust. Five candidates have been nominated, the three retiring members, Messrs E; G, Eton, A. O. Jones and J. L. Hughes, and two new aspirants, Messrs C. E. Gray and W. L. Butler. The polling hours will be from 9 a.m. to .6 p.m. There are approximately 5,370 persons on the roll, which, however, has not been purged since 1931. It is estimated that there will be about 100 declaration votes. The returning officer (Mr. W. B. Yates) stated last evening that every person residing in the Masterton Small Farm Area who is over 21 years of age and who has been a resident thereof for 6 months, is entitled to a vote. There is no need for a person to be a ratepayer or to have his or her name on the roll. A special booth will be provided at the polling places for the declaration of votes of those not on the roll.
