CLEARING SALE.
WRIGHT STEPHENSON & CO. j Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.> Ltd., report:— We held a clearing sale yesterday on behalf of Mr. Frank Price, of Solway. The sale attracted a very big attendance and we have to report a most successful sale. The Southdown stud met with keen competition. The pick of the ewes made from 3 to sgns. Ewe lambs made up to 24gns. and ram lambs to 3|gns. Dairy cows were in demand and one exceptionally good-looking cow made £lO/5/, but prices generally ranged from £5/10/ to £7. Springing heifers sold up to £6/10/ and a line of 18 averaged £5/6/. A line of rising 2-year Hereford and P.A. steers made £6/16/. Implements and sundries made good values. The draught horses were keenly sought after and the two brood mares made £64 and £7O respectively. A black 5-year gelding made £42 and an unbroken rising 3-year gelding £39/10/. The two yearling draught fillies made £43 and £2B/10/. The thoroughbreds were not in demand, the top price being £22 for Lady Jen. Others sold from £4 to £lO.
