WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING.
OPEN TOURNEY TO BE HELD. Considerable interest was shown at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Badminton Association, held last night, in the forthcoming exhibition match to be given in Masterton by Mr. J. E. Devlin, who is looked upon as a world champion player. He will be accompanied by a lady and two men players from Wellington. Mr. Devlin’s visit will extend from June 27 to June 30 and during that time, besides exhibition matches, he will also give lectures on the game and his services will be available as a coach. It was reported that twelve clnbs had affiliated with the association. The matter of dividing the clubs into grades was left to the committee. It was decided to hold an open tournament at the end of July. The meeting agreed that affiliation fees must be paid on or before May 30.1 1 Officers were elected as follow:— President, Mr. H. M. A. Major; vicepresident, Mr. J. K. Logan; secretarytreasurer, Mr. E. K. East wood; committee, Messrs E. M. Hodder, G. Simpson, D. A. Burns, P. Hawksworth, and P. Wallace; auditor, Mr. N. H. James; delegate to New Zealand Badminton Association, Mr. H. M. A. Major.
