FIGHT BEGUN.
CONTROL OF LABOUR MACHINE IN NJS.W. MR. GARDEN WINS SECOND BOUND. SUPPORT IN CONSTITUENCY. (Received Monday, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 25. Mr. J. S. Garden ■won the second round of his fight with the State Labour Executive in a decisive manner. The electoral council in his constituency, namely Cook, passed a vote of confidence in him by 45 votes to 5 and also decided to convene a special conference of metropolitan electorate councils on June 7, preparatory to demanding a special conference of Labour delegates representing the State in order to discuss Mr. Garden’s ease and other matters affecting the Labour movement in New South Wales. It is now considered that-the fight for control of the Labour organisation has begun in real earnest. Party managers take a serious view of the situation.
