SUICIDE PREVENTED
PILOT SAVES YOUNG WOMAN IN U.SA. JUMP ATTEMPTED AT 10,000 FEET. (Received Friday, 7.30 p.m.) BOSTON, May 21. A husky fourteen stone pilot saved a young woman from suicide to-day, in a grim fight within the cockpit of an aeroplane at an altitude of ten thousand feet. The woman chartered the 'plane with the apparent intention of destroying herself. As she started to jump, the pilot grabbed her by the hair and, after a strenuous tussle, he managed to operate the controls with one hand and make a perfect landing. The police were unable to identify the would-be suicide, who was removed to hospital.
