(Received Tuesday, 7.35 p.m.) MANILA, May 18.
Six desperate lepers escaped from the Culion Island Leprosarium, killed seven persons and to-day were believed to be en route for Borneo. The lepers were armd. Under the leadership of one of their number called Abdullah they killed four fishermen in order to obtain the latter’s boat and, then, stopping at Abcabo Island, they killed three more persons and robbed Chinese stores. The lepers then proceeded to Bonobono but the citizens drove them off. After this they seized another boat and escaped to sea. The islanders were afraid to lay hands on the lepers for fear of contracting the disease. The constabulary is at present conducting a search in nearby islands.
