BOUSSUS IN FORM.
FRANCE DEFEATS ENGLAND AT TENNIS. PERRY PUTS UP GREAT FIGHT PLAY AT TERRIFIC SPEED. PARIS, May 17. France defeated England by 12 matches to 7. The results included: — Perry defeated Destremeau, 6-3, 7-5; Boussus defeated Austin, 7-5, 7-5, Borotra and Brugnon defeated Hughes and Tuckey, 6-4, 9-7. Perry, recovering form, dominated his match. He played with terrific speed, producing unanswerable returns. Boussus was always ahead. He made Austin go at top speed and caught him out of position with deep drives. Borotra and Brugnon outplayed the Englishmen in the doubles.
In the matches on Saturday France led England by seven matches to three. Boussus beat Perry 6-4, 6-8, 6-2; Destremeau beat Austin, 8-6, 6-2; Borotra and Bernard beat Wilde and Hare 6-3, 8-6; Hughes and Tuckey beat Legeay and Feret, 6-2, 6-2. Perry, in the third set', repeatedly netted his backhand and was unable to deal with the severely-cut returns of Boussus. Destremeau fairly outplayed Austin, acutely angling speedy returns.
