AMATEUR BOXING.

FEATHERSTON CLUB FORMED.

At a meeting in Featherston on Saturday night it was decided to form the Featherston Amateur Boxing Club. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. D. H. S. Riddiford; president, Mr. N. C. C. Shepherd; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Barton, Q. Donald, T. E. Lang, B. N. Barton, J. W. Card, F. C. Yule, and J. C. Varnham; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. B. Ritch'ie; committee, Messrs J. Brophy, J. Varham, A. McLeod, A. Jensen, J. Hyland, P. Regan, G. W. Lambess, F. Dohnt, W. Sturdee, V. Welch, F. Yule junr., J. Lepinski; instructor, Mr. 8. R. Hercock; assistant instructor, Mr. V. Welch; hon. auditor, Mr. H, Rolls; delegates to Wairarapa Association, Messrs S. Hercock and V. Welch.

It was decided that the subscriptions be as follow:—Senior, 7s 6d; schoolboys, 2s 6d; hon. members, ss. Non-members are .to be charged 3d per night admission to the gymnasium.

Mr. Hercock stated that he had received a promise of the donation of a silver cup from Beatty’s, Ltd., Wellington, for competition among Wairarapa clubs. It was decided that a medal or miniature cup be awarded to the most improved junior pupil.
