KIDNAPPING CHARGE.
WANTED MAN ARRESTED AFTER LONG SEARCH. GANGSTER ALSO APPREHENDED. (Received Sunday, 6.30 p.m.) NEW ORLEANS, May 1. Alvan Karpis, for whom the Department of Justice had searched for three years was captured to-day by a squad of G Men led personally by J. Edgar Hoover. Not a single shot was exchanged in making the arrest. Karpis is wanted on charges of kidnapping William Hamm and K. G. Bremer. A gangster named Fred Hunter, wanted on charges of bank robbery and an unidentified woman were captured with him.
