EX-MODEL’S DEATH.
PERISHES IN A FIRE. (Received Wednesday, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, February 11. Joan Valerie Lanneau, the model of Fremiet’s famous statue of Joan of Arc, perished in flames similarly to the Maid of Orleans. Lanneau, despite prosperity in her heydey in the seventies of the last century, earned a meagre livelihood at dressmaking in a garret, where an oil stove overturned and she was incinerated. She was 80 years Old.
