HIGHER PROTECTIVE DUTIES IN BRITAIN. TAKING EFFECT NEXT WEEK. (Received Thursday, 7.0 p.m.) LONDON, March 21. The Government from March 26 will increase the Import duties on various elementary iron and steel products, in some instances to fifty per cent, of the value of the imports. In other cases the duties will be higher than the present rate by one-third of the value.
