Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co, Ltd, report:— ~We offered a heavy yarding of pigs and average entries of cattle and sheep to the usual attendance at Carterton yesterday. Store lambs were keenly sought after, and prices advanced on recent sales. Springing cows and heifers also sold readily, but pigs were not in demand and eased in price on last week’s sales. Prices were as under:— Sheep: Medium b.f. lambs, 14/- to 15/-; w.f. wether lambs, to 15/-; small w.f. lambs, 9/- to 9/6; m.s. lambs (small), 10/9; empty ewes, 9/6 to 10/-. Cattle: Springing cows, £4/10/-, £4 15/- to £4/17/6; springing heifers, £3 15/-, £4/5/- to £4/10/-; heifer just calved, £2/17/6; fat cows, £2/3/-, £2 10/- to £3; empty forward cows, 30/-, 31/- to 34/-; store cows, 17/-, 18/-, 20/- to 24/-. Pigs: Weaner pigs, 4/-, 4/6, 5/-, 5/6, 6/-, 7/-, 8/- to 9/6; slips, 10/6, 11/6 to 12/6; porkers (light), 18/6, 19/6 to 23/6; heavy, 28/-, 29/6, 30/-, 31/- to 38/-.
