In the hard court tennis championships at Bournemouth, men’s singles, third round, McGrath defeated Hare, 6/4, 6/4, 6/3; Perry defeated Malfroy, 6/4, 2/6, 6/4, 6/0; Crawford defeated Jhijikura, '6/1, 6/1, 9/7; Miki defeated Turmbnll, 10/8, 6/0, 6/3; Quist defeated Gandardower, 2/6, 6/2, 5/7, 6/3, 6/1; Boussus defeated Hopman, 7/5, 6/3, 6/2. In the fourth round, Prenn defeated Avory, 6/4, 6/3, 6/2. In the women’s singles, third round, Miss Heeley defeated Miss Hartigan, 6/2, 6/3. In the women’s doubles, first round, Mrs Molesworth and. Miss Hartigan defeated Miss McOstrich and Miss Whitmarsh, 8/6, 6/1. In the third round, Mrs. Hopman and Miss Hardwick defeated Mrs. Lucas and Miss Harry, 7/5, 4/6, 6/4. In the men’s doubles, second round, Crawfqrd and McGrath defeated Stedman and Peters, 6/3, 6/1, 4/6, 6/3; Fujikura and Hopman defeated Graves and Morris, 8/6, 6/3, 6/1; Quist and Turnbull defeated 'Wheatcroft and Wilde, 6/3, 6/4, 6/3. Stedman’s tossing was responsible for the fact that he and his partner took a set from Crawford and McGrath. Miss Hartigan failed to reproduce her Australian form.
