SCHOOL CRICKET.

WAIRARAPA v. HUTT VALLEY. MATCH AT MASTERTON. A cricket match was commenced yesterday on the Wairarapa High ■School ground between teams representing the Hutt Valley and the Wairarapa High School. At the drawing of stumps for * the day Wairarapa were in an exceptionally strong position, having made 218 for the loss of three wickets in the first innings, compared with the visitors’ tally of 201 for their first strike. The wicket was in splendid />rder and some bright cricket was seen. Wallis 30 not out and Sangesson 33 did best for Hutt, O’Callaghan capturing most of the wickets for Wairarapa. Wairarapa started their first innings solidly, Peterson compiling a useful 49 and Mexted making 73 not out. The match will be continued this morning, starting at 9.30 o’clock.
