“THE SOLITAIRE MAN.”

Gang crime and murder mysteries provide plenty of thrills and entertainment in ‘‘The Solitaire Man,” ( which comes to the Regent Theatre toil, day, when it will be screened at matinee and evening performances. The story deals with the adventures of Oliver Lane, an ex-ofiicer in the British Army, who turns crook with a gang of three people, all of whom have suffered through the war. They are Mrs. Vail, a dignified woman of middle age; her supposed niece, Helen Heming, and young Bascom, who became a drug addict through shell shock. Posing as the agent of a firm of jewellers in Amsterdam, Lane supplies his gang with jewels which they sell to Credulous Americans by telling romantic stories about them. Most of these jewels are stolen, for Lane is really the mysterious thief known to the police as the Solitaire Man, but whose identity they have been unable to discover. Even Lane’s gang do not know, though they suspect the truth. Lane plans to retire to a house in Devonshire, having made enough money. He asks Helen to marry him, as they have been in love for some time. Before they succeed in achieving their ambition, Lane his sweetheart are involved in a series of hair-raising adventures which develop to their elimax with plenty of action and drama.
