FLAX TEXTILES.
OPENING OP NEW FACTORY AT FOXTON. IMPORTANT NEW SECONDARY INDUSTRY. PALMERSTON NORTH, March 9. With an attendance of close on 2,000, the new factory built at Foxton for the New Zealand Woolpack and Textiles Company was opened today by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who was accompanied by several Parliamentarians and others. Sir Alexander Roberts, chairman of directors, presided. Messrs R. Semple and J. Linklater, M’sP. also spoke. Hopes were expressed that an important new secondary industry would assist to solve unemployment. Sir A. Roberts gave Mr. Coates the gold key with which the ceremony was performed.—(P.A.)
