Mr. F. G. Maunsell, of Essex Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Australia.

The engagement is announced of Ellen (Nellie), eldest daughter of Mr. ana Mrs. J. Plunkett, Shakespeare Road, Napier, to Montague Francis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Groube, 6 Rimu Street, Lansdowne, Masterton.
The death occurred in Wellington yesterday of Father Stanislaus Mahoney. Born in London in 1866, Father/Mahoney came to New Zealand with his parents and was ordained a priest in 1893, subsequently working at Christchurch, Hokitika, Nelson and Wanganui. He was appointed parish priest at St. Mary of the Angles, Wellington, in 1918, where he had been ev.er. since.—(P.A.) The death has occurred of Mr. George H. Thomson, for many years a member of the Legislative Council, reports a Dunedin Press Association message. The late Mr. Thomson, who was 84 years of age, was a close student of botany and zoology, and was the author of several works dealing with these subjects. He represented Dunedin North in the House of Representatives for six years, afterwards being appointed to the Legislative Council.
Sympathetic reference was made to the death of the late Mr. S. Bolton, and appreciation was expressed of his valuable services over a long period of years, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. In moving a motion of 11 condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. Bolton, the chairman, Mr. W. Fisher, said that Mr. Bolton had been a very valued member of the board and, with the exception of himself, had been the oldest member. He had been one of the most useful members on the board and since his appointment in 1903 had very rarely missed a meeting. His attendance at meetings of the Central Committee Was also consistent. The motion was carried in silence, members standing out of respect to their departed colleague.
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Levick, of Salisbury Avenue, Wellington, yesterday celebrated their golden wedding. They were married at the residence of the bride’s parents, Tyne Street, Carterton, on August 25, 1883, by the Rev. Robert Young, Mrs. Levick's maiden name being Miss Elizabeth Russell. Mr. and Mrs. Levick were for many years residents of Carterton, Mr. Levick during that period being attached to the staff of th 3 W.F.C.A., Ltd. He is the only remaining benefit charter member of Totara Lodge of Druids, Carterton, which in May last celebrated its jubilee. The Rev. R. Young, the officiating minister at the wedding was for a lengthy period vicar of St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, and is now living in retirement in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Levick have many friends in the South Wairarapa who will unite in extending their congratulations to them upon the occasion.
