HOSPITAL FEES.
DANNEVTBKE AND WAIRARAPA BOARDS. A CONTENTIOUS PROBLEM. A deputation representing the Dannevirke Hospital Board waited on the Wairarapa Board at its meeting yesterday, when consideration was given to lie question of payment of fees for treatment of patients in the institutions of the respective boards. It was stated that a large number of patients' from the Akitio district entered the Dannevirke Hospital instead of going to Pahiatua. The Dannevirke board had charged the Wairarapa board for the fees incurred, but the latter body had declined to accept responsibility, and the deputation was the outcome of the controversy that had ensued. During the past three years, fees amounting to £403 had been incurred at the Dannevirke Hospital by patients from the Wairarapa board’s district. Of that amount £54 had been collected from the patients, leaving £349 outstanding. The matter was fully discussed, and it was stated that a readjustment of the boundaries was the only real solution of the difficulty. A committee consisting of the chairman (Mr. W.
