BROADCASTING RIGHTS.
AN IMPORTANT DECISION IN ENGLAND. (Received Thursday, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, April 6. Mr. Justice Maughan, in the Chancery Division, gave judgment in favour of the Performing Rights Society, in a test action against Hammond’s Bradford Brewery Company, in which he 'decided that loud-speaker reproductions of the Broadcasting Corporation’s broadcasts in hotels and places of entertainment infringed copyright and constituted a new performance entitling the owers of the copyright to royalties. The decision involves a large sum in royalties.
