LONDON WOOL SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London Agents, dated March 14:— “The auctions opened here to-day with a large attendance of buyers. As at present arranged, the sale will close on March 31. Compared with closing rates of last sales, we quote: —Greasy Merino, halfbred and crossbred, all about id to 4d per lb. lower; scoured Merinos, |d to id per lb. lower; scoured crossbred, id per lb lower; slipe wools generally, id per lb lower.” Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. have received the following report from their London agents:—‘Sales opened with good competition. Average attendance, fair selection, Home trade principal operators and Continental buyers reserved. As compared with closing rates of last series: Merino id to id lower; halfbred, id to Id lower; fine crossbred, 4d to id lower; medium and coarse crossbred, id to 4d; slipe, id to id.
