FIRE IN RELIEF CAMP.
HALL, AND CONTENTS LOST.
PALMERSTON N., March 13.
A fire on (Sunday afternoon destroyed the dining-room and community hall at the Makowhai unemployment camp, near San don. The contents included a piano and a wireless set. A motor car owned by Mr. W. Jenkins, deputy overseer, which was parked close to the hall, was destroyed. The outbreak, which occurred while the camp sports were in progress some distance away, was stemmed by a bucket brigade, which saved the adjacent hutments. The car, the piano, and the wireless set were uninsured.' 2 —(P.A.)
