Constable M. McNulty leaves Masterton to-day for Featherston. He will be succeeded in Masterton by Constable Anson, of Wellington South. The death took place at hie residence Wood Street, Greytown, yesterday of Mr. Samuel Wilfred Feast, at the age of 67 years. The late Mr. Feast had been in failing health for tome time. At last night’s meeting 'of the Borough Council a vote of sympathy was passed with Councillor ~J. L. Murray in the illness of his wife and the hope wae expressed that she would speedily be restored to normal health. Mr. H. W. Geddes, M. Agrie. Sc., assistant in agriculture at Lincoln College will leave in March next to take up an appointment as district agricultural organiser in Tasmania, under the Department of Agriculture of that state.— (PjA.) The friends of Mr. H. 0. Williams, auctioneer in Masterton for Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., will regret to 'hear that he has had to undergo on operation, in Glenwood Private Hospital. Mr. Williams was transferred from the Invercargill staff of Messrs Dalgety and Co., only a few weeks ego and took up his new post in Masterton at the beginning of this month.

The interment of the late Mrs W. Wise took place at the Masterton Cemetery yesterday. Among the beautiful wreaths received -were floral tributes from the K/ripuni Methodist Church Bunday School and Young Men’s Bible Class. Tho services at the residence of her daughter and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. W. Parker, who paid striking testimony to her Christian character and interest in all church work. Relatives of the late Mrs Wise acted as pall bearers. The transfer of Mr. L. H. Arcus, headmaster of the Lansdowne School to Seatoun moans that the three main Masterton Schools will all be under new headmasters. Mr. R. C. Drummond has retired from the Masterton Central School, his successor belffg Mr. Coddington, of Wanganui, while Mr. Parker Smith has only recently taken up duties at Masterton West. Mr. Arcus has been in charge of Lansdowne for the past four years, having succeeded Mr. J. Noble, who was transferred to Christchurch. Reference was made by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council to the death of the late Messrs G. C. Bennington and Charles Bentley, two very old residents of the town. The late Mr. Bennington, said Mr. Jordan, had been a member of the borough outside staff for over 30 years and had continued in its employ when over 80 years of age. Both men had been worthy citizens who had practically grown up with the town and it was only right that their passing should be recorded. It was decided that letters of sympathy be forwarded to the relatives of both deceased.
