UNSIGHTLY BUILDINGS.
LANSDOWNE RESIDENTS’ CONCERN. APPEAL TO BOROUGH COUNCIL. Concern at the number of unsightly buildings, which were being erected in the district, was expressed in a letter from a Lansdowne resident to last night’s meeting of the Borough Council. In the course of the letter, the writer appealed to the council to prevent a slum area from growing up among the nice homes of Masterton.
It was decided to advise the resident that, while councillors were entirely in sympathy with the sentiments expressed in the letter, the powers of the council were limited. They would, however, regulate, as far as they had the power, the class of building to bo erected.
