RIFLE SHOOTING.
mastebton-opazx club. MATCH. IL X KING MAKES POSSIBLE AT 900 YARDS. Eleven members of the MastortonOpaki Rifle Club took part in a match on Saturday afternoon on the Fairview Range. The weather was very hot, although there wan a fairly strong wind blowing in from, tho south-west. The veteran R J. King was in good form, securing tho possible 50 at tho 900 yards’ range. It was an excellent performance and he was heartily congratulated by the other members. The next best nt this range were P. Russell 46; and 11. King, C. Pickering and J. McKenzie 44 apiece. At the 1000 yards range the wind was still very strong and quite a number of Magpies (3) were registered during tho afternoon. H. Pickering with 46 was easily tho top-sconer at this range, the next best being G. H. Murdoch, 40. Following are the scores, conditions being 10 shots and two optional sighters at 900 and 1000 yards:—
