DISTRICT NEWS.
SOUTH WAiRARAPA ITEMS PIEINOA. (“The Age” Special.) Mr. L. Mcllwraith. who has been a popular resident of this district for a number of years, is leaving shortly for the South Island. Mr. Mcllwraith was a keen sportsman and a valued member of the local golf club. He will be greatly missed from social and golfing circles. The death occurred in the Masterton Hospital on Tuesday, of Mrs. Winnie Hutana, wife of Mr. Joseph Hutana. The late Mrs. Hutana, who was the elder daughter of the late Mr. Peter Cowan, had only been ailing for a few days and her sudden death came as a shock to her many friends in this district. She leaves a husband and four young children. The funeral took place at Gladstone on Saturday. Elder Watson, who has been doing missionary work in this and the Manawatu district and latterly in the Wellington area for the past two years, is making a final visit to his many friends in this locality prior to his departure at the end of the month for his home in Australia.
